Endpoint Protector 4 Appliance - Update

Server Version: 4.4.0.0

Content Aware Protection for MAC OS X (CAP for MAC) available as a New feature. Requires separate activation.

Improvements:

  • File Tracing option for network shared drives
  • Custom Server to Client notifications
  • Improved Reports and Filters sections (added more columns and filtering options)

Windows Client Version: 4.2.3.0

[A restart PC is mandatory in case of Client Software Upgrade is performed from Web UI]

Improvements:

  • Windows 8 compatibility
  • Removed .Net framework dependency
  • Trace file accesses on network share locations or drives mapped from the network

Content Aware Protection

  • Added more file types (.hpt - PDF Template files, .hsdt - PowerPoint files, .nxl - Excel files, .DRM - Digital Rights Management files, .html files, .makefile - Programming files) to the File Extension Filter
  • Detect national identification number: SSN for Korea, SSN for Taiwan
  • Thunderbird version 17 e-mail body is now supported
  • Detect also Korean phone numbers beginning with "0082"
  • For a content aware violation of a file inside a ZIP archive (.zip, .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .jar, .apk, .ipa, etc.) report also the name of the archive member. For example a reported file name could look like: "F:\temp\archive.zip\[subdir\sensitive_file_name.doc]"
  • Improved e-mail detection

Device Control

  • Added a new category called "Network Share" devices
  • Detect and control Gemalto / USB Smart Card Reader devices
  • Improved eSATA disks handling

Bug fixes:

  • Shadow Size and Local Log Size were not received from Server, therefore system load could not be lowered using these settings
  • If a proxy server was used, and the communication through the proxy server failed, it was possible for the EPP Client never to obtain a certificate even if direct connection to the EPP Server was available
  • Detect iPad mini as such, rather than iPhone
  • The previous Client could generate wrong log IDs that could eventually cause logs duplication on the Server
  • Fixed possible memory corruption during memory de-allocation in the Outlook add-on and in the Thunderbird add-on
  • Fixed file tracing from internal CD/DVD ROMs. This feature was lost when adding copy file detection

Mac Client Version: 1.2.1.6 (for MAC OS X: 10.5+)

New feature: Content Aware Protection (CAP) - This version can block or report files that contain a content policy violation and are accessed by a monitored application.

  • CD/DVD devices will not only be unmounted, but also ejected when they are connected and their right changes to blocked from the server
